Marko Flemming from Puerto Vallarta in Mexico was Power Meet's most long-distance guest.
Hot-Rod that came from Mexico
Certain people are crazier than others. Marko Fleming took a hot-rod from Mexico to Västerås in order to cruise with the elite.
What would you change if you knew that your life was stagnating and you needed a new start? For Marko Flemming from Puerto Vallarta in Mexico there was no question. Puerto Vallarta - Guadalajara - Veracruz - Southampton - Edinburgh - Newcastle - Stavanger - Västerås.
"I had heard about the Power Big Meet and like to drive," he says about the six-week journey.
Before Marko departed, he quit his job as a graphic designer and bought a 1972 Ford Mustang. Apart from a near-miss when the car bolted backward without control on a motorway in Mexico, the trip went well. He does not agree that the journey is often better than the destination - and certainly not when it comes to Power Big Meet.
"This is better than I ever can dream about. I have never seen so many fine old cars in one place," he says lyrically.
When the prize for the most long-distance visitor was to be handed out there was no question. The cheerful mexican took home the trophy that class. After that sudden dividend, certain confusion arose when Marko became a car salesmen and showed the same faith as carried him over the half globe.
"I want enough to have 170 000 sek for Fords so I can buy a new car in Mexico," he explained.
He vowed to return next year. The future may show how the good business idea: “drive from Mexico to Västerås and sell it at Power Meet” functions.
