MEXICAN MUSTANG
(Reprinted from the July 2008 issue of Mustang Monthly.)
(Photos by Devin Weisleder)

We're familiar with the Shelby de Mexico Mustangs, but admit we hadn't seen a regular Mexico-built Mustang until reader Devin Weisleder sent us some shots of his '69 hardtop. "I got it from a guy who moved from Mexico to South Carolina a few years ago," Devin tells us. "He said the car was his father's and that it sat under a porch in Mexico after he died.

The son began to work on it a few years ago and brought it with him to the U.S. I got it from him last June. Everything needs to be replaced."      As you can see from the photo, the dataplate is in Spanish and the VIN, AF07HT13853, is slightly different from the VINs for American-made Mustangs. According to the buyer's order sheet, the car was originally sold

to Fernando Sala Gurria in Anahuac, Mexico, on March 15, 1969. The selling price was 60,600 pesos.        We'd be interested to learn more about Mexican-built Mustangs.
